Fleas and Ticks

Fleas and ticks bring discomfort and disease, highlighting the need for consistent prevention.

Fleas and ticks have become a year-round concern for pet owners and pets alike. Not only do these parasites have the ‘ick’ factor but both can be responsible for disease transmission to pets and people.

How can you tell if your dog has fleas & ticks?

Fleas frequently cause itching especially around the tail. You can find live fleas or flea feces (looks like pepper) at the base of the hairs. Mild flea infestation may not itch at all. Ticks usually hide around the ears (collar) armpits and do not often cause itching.

What are the treatment options for ticks in dogs?

Generally, there are two ways to treat dogs to prevent ticks. One is topical which involves applying liquid medicine to the skin and the other is systemic where medication is administered in a pill form.
